1888 - Bishop Amos Wright Arrested on the "Usual Charge"


1840-1915
Amos Russell Wright: Interpreter of the Shoshone and Bannock Indian languages, Pony Express rider, father of 24 children, Bishop in the LDS church for 30 years, baptized Chief Washakie and 200 natives of the Shoshone tribe, elected to the 13th territorial legislature of Idaho in 1885.

Article Reads: "Deputy United States Marshals Hobson, Phelps, and Watson paid a visit to Bennington this morning, and arrested Bishop Amos Wright on the usual charge, but the deputies got left. The bishop mounted a horse and left the deputies to mourn his departure."
