Clarence's 100th Birthday

What a day to celebrate and remember all the wonderful memories, vocabulary lessons, and fine example of Clarence Crandall also known as "Papa", "Dad", and Grandpa Clarence to the great-greats.

In Yuma, the Clarks and Jacobsons will be celebrating with a FHE BBQ complete with burgers and weenies, Crandall chili beans, pasta salads, potato salads, green olives, and gazpacho on the side.

We'd love it if you'd comment on this post with a favorite memory of Grandpa Clarence or how you're celebrating his 100th birthday.

I lived near Other Mother and Papa during some of my college years and early married years. He would often pull my kids around his backyard in his red wagon while Grandma and I visited.

I once watched him eat an onion like an apple.

During college, he would occasionally slip me a film container full of quarters to use at the car wash or laundromat. A couple times, I even got a "loaded handshake" (handshake with a $20 bill tucked in his palm).

He would sit in his wing chair in the evenings until 9 or 10pm and read his Ensign in German or listen to some classical music.
